Every day we get inundated with e-mails from people asking he most basic of questions like: "What's the weather like?" to the such questions as: "How far is it from my hotel to the middle of Magalluf or Palma Nova?" We answer every single e-mail we receive but have listed those most frequently asked questions below, which will (a) hopefully answer your queries and (b) reduce our workload!

OK, let's start with - What is the weather like?"
Hot...Between May and October it is virtually sunshine all the way with very little rain. In July and August it can be very humid and at night it is very sticky. If you come to Magalluf or Palma Nova over the Winter months you will need to bring a jumper and/or coat for the evenings because it does go cooler but there will almost certainly be some stage each day when you can still enjoy the sun.

How many cigarettes can I take back home with me?
The simple answer is that there is no limit these days, but if you click here you will get some official guidlines and also the cost of cigarettes in Mallorca in 2006

Do you have ATM machines in Mallorca?

Is there a local ISP I can use to connect my laptop to the internet while on holiday?
Yes, you can use TelefonicaNet. Their dial up number is 908 200 220, Username:   telefonicanet@telefonicanet - Password: telefonicanet

"If I have a problem, is there a consumer office I can go to?"
Yes, but it is in Palma. You can phone them, but be prepared to speak Catalan - Spanish probably won't do you! The phone number of the Oficina Municipal de Informacion al Consumidor (OMIC) is 971 712 748 or 971 724 650, and the offices are in the Plaza Olivar No.4 - which is close to the Plaza Espanya.

Can I do the UK lottery while I am on holiday?
No, unless you do it online at www.national-lottery.co.uk. You can, however, partake in the Spanish Lottery, and the Euro Millions, which is the same as 'back home' except it costs you 2€ per line. There are two offices locally, both are in Palma Nova. One is on the sea front opposite the tourist information office, and the other is on Avenida de la Playa, which is the main road leading up from Palma Nova beach by the taxi rank. If you buy a ticket for the Spanish lottery and need to check it when you get back home you can do so at: www.loterias.com.

I would like to get married in Mallorca - how do I go about it?
First of all, it isn't easy. You are best to speak to either the British or Irish consul for advice. Their respective telephone numbers are: (0034) 971 712 445 and (0034) 971 719 244.

Do you have any information about my hotel, pictures etc?
There will be full details of your hotel at the Xcapewithus and alpha rooms websites.

Can you buy baby foods, nappies and milk in Mallorca?
Yes. Heinz baby foods and other brands are available in Supermarkets and Chemists, as are most brands of nappies. SMA baby milk is known as Nutraben in Spain.

Can we hire buggies, cots, high chairs and wheelchairs

How much does a taxi cost from the airport and how long does it take?
It takes about 15-20 minutes and costs around 25-30 euros. You could always get a quote from Shuttle Direct airport transfers before you come on holiday. If there are more than four people in yhour party, it is certainly worth getting in touch wsith them

Can I get to Magalluf or Palma Nova by bus from the airport?
Yes, but it can take a couple of hours. However it will cost only around 5 euros (per person). There is a special bus from the airport into the centre of Palma and then you need the Number 104, 105, 106, 107 and 111 bus from Palma to Paguera (which stops at Magalluf & Palma Nova).

Is there anywhere for me to access my e-mails while I am on holiday?
Yes, there are plenty of Internet cafe's around the area and many bars also have the facility.

I am thinking of coming to Magalluf or Palma Nova to work in the Summer months, what do you recommend?
As you can imagine, work in the Summer varies from one year to the next. It is impossible to point you in any direction but what we would recommend that you come out on a cheap package towards the end of April and look around for work - and accommodation - while you are here. If you get fixed up then stay. If not, just enjoy the holiday! Check out our employment page for further information.

Can you organise accommodation for me?
We can't, but if you go to www.alpharooms.com they have a large selection of hotels and apartments in the area for Summer 2007.

Can you recommend a good car hire firm?
We recommend - one of the leading internet car rental firms and Terry's Car Hire - a local company based at C'an Pastilla, close to Palma Airport.
