PHONING HOME To call the UK dial 0044 then the number you want, but leaving off the first digit. For example 0151-999-6666 in the UK would be 0044-151-999-6666 from Mallorca. If dialling to the Republic of Ireland it is the same except the international dialling code is 00353. You can make reverse charge calls by dialling 1408 and you will get connected to an operator

GETTING FROM THE AIRPORT You can go by bus but it means going into Palma and then changing. It can be a lengthy operation depending upon your time of arrival. The easiest way is by taxi and the approximate cost is around 36 euros and it takes around 15-20 minutes. You can always get a quote from Shuttle Direct before you set off on your holiday.
POSTING A LETTER OR CARD Cost to the UK and Ireland is 64 centimos for a standard letter or postcard. Stamps are available from tobacconists and the post office. Also, the shops which sell you the cards will normally provide stamps. Only use stamps that carry the words "Correos España" because there are some private companies with their own post boxes and the national postal service will not accept their stamps.
BUSES The following buses run from Magalluf/Palma Nova to Palma: the 104, 105, 106, 107 and 111. The 104 and L109 go to Santa Ponsa and Paguera.
MARKETS The nearest markets to Magalluf and Palma Nova are in Calvia (Monday am), Galatzo (Tuesday am) and Andraitx (Wednesday am). There is a Car Boot sale on ther Son Bugadellas Industrial Estate in Santa Ponsa on Saturday morning and there is also a street market in Palma on Saturday morning.
IF YOU ARE ILL If you need to visit a doctor we would recommend you first visit a chemist (farmacia) beause they are well qualified. But if you still have to visit a doctor, there are many private doctors in town - a visit will cost you between 60-75€ - which you can claim back on your insurance. There is also a national health clinic.
LOCAL GOLF The nearest golf course is at Poniente and is on the back road from Magalluf to Son Ferrer. It is only a five minute drive from Magalluf. A round costs 88 euros and it is neccessary to pre-book your tee time. A buggy costs 40 euros and club hire is 20 euros per set. The phone number of the course is: (0034) 971 130 148. Alternatively you could get Mallorca Golf Connection to book your tee-times for you - and they will get you a discount - normally around 10%.

LOCAL CHURCHES There are Catholic Churches in Magalluf (next to the Pirates Adventure) Sunday services are at 10.00, 12.00 and 18.00 - and in Palma Nova (between the Palma Nova Hotel and Palma Nova Palace Hotel) Sunday services are at 10.00, 11.00 and 18.00. The Upper Room Christian Fellowship meets every Sunday at 10.30am for a Chrisitan Worship service at Pickles Dance Studio, Ave. Notario

CHANGING MONEY You will generally get a better rate of exchange of you change your money here in Mallorca than in the UK. Just check that you have actually been given the rate that is advertised.
WIFI & INTERNET CAFES Many bars offer free WIFI these days. There are also Internet Cafes where you pay as you go. The local council offers FREE WIFI around the local beach areas.
LOTTERY As a tourist you are welcome to take part in Spanish lotteries. There are three local lottery offices in the Magalluf and Palma Nova Area. You cannot do the UK National Lottery whilst on holiday, except online at www.national-lottery.co.uk, but you can take part in the Euro Millions whilst over here. It costs 2 euros per go, and you don't get your free lucky dip like you do in the UK.
BABY FOOD & NAPPIES Heinz baby foods and other brands are available in Supermarkets and Chemists, as are most brands of nappies. SMA baby milk is known as Nutraben in Spain.
